Brentford Women finished the season in the strongest way possible, securing the double by winning the Capital Cup and the League Trophy.

Our Women showed great character bouncing back from loosing out on the league title to Sport London E Benfica by a single point to lift the two trophies.

Brentford beat Leatherhead 4-0 to lift the Capital Intermediate Cup at Dorking Wanderers Meadowbank Football ground. This is a ‘County Cup’ or ‘Super County Cup’ as it contested by the teams from the four of the FA’s around London.

The game was actually a lot closer than the scoreline suggest but goals from Chloe Logie (x2), Maddie Phillips (who replicated her goal of the season contender) and substitute Lucy Bolithio meant the Trophy was coming back to West London.

The Bees were backed by about 120 Bees fans who made the short trip to Leafy Surrey and you could see just how much the win meant to the players, staff and fans

Next Up was Clapton Community at home and a good two nil win. Clapton are probably the noisiest fans in Women’s football, their drumming and singing is non stop and they travelled to Bedfont Sports in good numbers

The league Trophy was played at the same time as the last Premier League Match against Newcastle. Bees United, BIAS and HerGameToo all made unsuccessful representations to get the game moved.

About 60 to 80 Bees fans made the trip back to Dorking. We were outnumbered but definitely made ourselves heard. Going into the game we were probably firm favourites as we had already beaten AFC Whyteleafe 4-0 away and 6-0 at home.

AFC Whyteleafe took an early lead the Bees equalised through when Chloe Logie headed home a pin point cross from Nikki Woods. Whyteafe regained the lead only for Samantha Read to fire home a free kick from just beyond the Centre Circle.

The Bees secured the win when Chloe Logie burst through to beat the defence to fire home her 53rd goal of the season and Nikki Woods secured the win with her 18th strike of the campaign.

It’s been a brilliant season, 120 goals were scored in 34 matches, Two Trophies, the Women equalled our highest ever league finish and reached the for the first time we reached the 1st Round Proper of the Women’s FA Cup when we exited the competition 3-4 to seven times winners Southampton Women.

Our Women did us all proud, they are truly a credit to our club and we should all look forward to see what next Season brings
