John Hewlett and his son Russell were the lucky winners of the latest Bees United members' draw, giving them the chance to watch the recent Notts County game from the Directors' Box as well as to enjoy the pre-and post-match hospitality of the Griffin Park boardroom.
John is pictured centre right with Russell centre left, flanked by new Bees United board members Stephen Dando (far left) and Mike Rice (far right). He is an engineer from Eastcote who has been a Brentford supporter for nearly 60 years. He remembers coming to Griffin Park with his father in the early 1950s to watch the likes of ex-West Ham and England manager Ron Greenwood and television pundit Jimmy Hill in Brentford colours, and has a great affection for the ground.
A staunch Bees United supporter from the start, John said he was delighted to have the opportunity to experience the boardroom before and after the match, and to get a different view from above the halfway line. He had to admit, however, that the football looked much the same as it does from his usual seat in the Braemar Road stand.
