Brentford FC Limited EGM
The EGM resolution to increase borrowing powers was passed unanimously.
After the meeting, an informal question and answers session took place.
Attention swung to the Lionel Road stadium development. Brian Burgess explained that until early last year, that the sums did not add up, but now “there was a better chance than ever before” of the scheme going ahead. Greg Dyke added that it would be “disappointing if the we had no further progress' in the next twelve months.
A shareholder enquired about what he described as the “diabolical” level of floodlighting, and Keith Dickens explained that £5,000 worth of expenditure was needed, as the present arrangements do “fall short”. The floodlights would be brought back up to requirements and he hoped this would be completed in time for the Chelsea v China XI friendly at Griffin Park on 5 February.
Shareholder Martin Lange raised a query on the cost of accountancy at Brentford FC, hoping that the club were seeking, in his words, “competitive quotes”.
Alan Rogers enquired about the viability of a reserve team next season. Keith Dickens replied that the “jury's out” on the effectiveness of a reserve team, but discussions were ongoing.
Another shareholder raised Lloyd Owusu's injury. It was stated that in all probability by Keith Dickens that you could “bank on him not playing this season”.
He added that insurance cover for players playing international matches for countries outside the Home Nations was “prohibitive”, with the top table confirming neither the Ghana FA nor Brentford FC had provided insurance cover for Lloyd, nor compensation would be due in respect of his injury.
