Bees United (BU) was invited to be part of the consultation process conducted by Brentford FC over the past few months in advance of the statement the Club issued on Thursday 30th June. This was in line with our mission to try to ensure Brentford ‘has a stable and sustainable future as a professional football club’ as the largest group representing supporters of BFC.
Bees United attended the main consultation meetings alongside BIAS which took its traditional role as the lead on ticketing matters. There was a constructive and collaborative approach from all parties. BU understood the rationale behind the Club’s proposals but expressed its concerns about some of them. The Club considered these and subsequently made amendments to some proposals but, as it is entitled to do, went ahead with others still unamended.
Bees United believes that there are lessons to be learned from this consultation process particularly in the light of the Premier League’s ambitions for greater engagement between clubs and supporters groups. We will work with the Club and BIAS to ensure that this happens.
