At the Walsall game last Saturday, Bees United continued its popular practice of inviting a lucky member and guest to experience the match build-up in the boardroom and to watch the game from the Directors’ box.

First out of the hat for the first home league fixture of 2012 was Graham Rice, who on the day was accompanied by his son Lawrence. They had a great day out, as Graham describes: “Thank you so much for the hospitality that my son, Lawrence and I received when we visited the Directors’ box for the game against Walsall.

“I have been a regular supporter and season-ticket holder for just over 50 years, and Lawrence for nearly 24 years, and this is the first time we have seen any demonstration that the club actually values the support of ordinary fans like us.

“Bees United are to be congratulated for making this gesture to the supporters as it makes us feel that we really are all in this together.

“It was a pleasure to meet Mark Chapman and the other Brentford and Bees United Directors, along with the travelling officials from Walsall. What was also reassuring was to be able to spend the whole afternoon asking our typical supporters’ questions and receiving open, sensible well-reasoned answers.

“When we committed to Bees United’s standing-order scheme at its start many years ago, we did not expect any return other than to try to help the Club. The invitation for the day was therefore an unexpected and very pleasant surprise.

“So many thanks once again for a great day out and for the work Bees United undertakes on behalf of all of us.”
